Jesus… Is That You?!?!

S (Scripture): Mark 6:45 Immediately Jesus made his disciples get into the boat and go on ahead to the other side, to Bethsaida, while he dispersed the crowd. 46 After saying good-bye to them, he went to the mountain to pray. 47 When evening came, the boat was in the middle of the sea and he was alone on the land. 48 He saw them straining at the oars, because the wind was against them. As the night was ending, he came to them walking on the sea, for he wanted to pass by them. 49 When they saw him walking on the water they thought he was a ghost. They cried out, 50 for they all saw him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them: “Have courage! It is I. Do not be afraid.” 51 Then he went up with them into the boat, and the wind ceased. They were completely astonished, 52 because they did not understand about the loaves, but their hearts were hardened.

O (Observation):  The disciples – a great stumblin’, bumblin’ ragtag group they were.   Here is the Son of Man, in their presence… He just fed 5,000 with 5 loaves and 2 fish.   He is certainly a miracle worker.  He now walks on water, but they still don’t get it.

Their hearts were hardened.  They were not yet able to understand.

A (Application): How often do we “get it,” as Christians in the world?  I mean, really?  Do we  get how awesome Jesus is?  Do we get the gravity and power that Jesus brings into the world?   I forget how great Jesus’ presence can be, when I forget to stop and look and listen for Jesus.  (Yes, Jesus is awesome even when we don’t look or listen.)

As we are challenged by fellow disciples or even directly  challenged by the Spirit, let us be aware that God’s presence is in us, and we, in God!   Nothing can separate us from God: not death, nor powers of this world, nor self-doubt, nor busy schedules, nor refugee crises, nor issues of sexuality.

God is in us and with us and ready to do something miraculous.  Let God do these things.  Seek God’s Kingdom first, and God will amaze you!

What holds you back this day from letting God do a work in you and through you?  Share in the comments section below.

P (Prayer):  Lord, help me to believe that you are the one walking in the water.  Amen.

    • You’re welcome! : )

I try to dig daily. Sometimes, we strike gold; other times, we miss the mark…but as long as we have breath, we try, right?

Either way, the Kingdom is all around us…
