S (Scripture): Psalm 10:1 Why, Lord, do you stand far off?  Why do you pay no attention during times of trouble?

2 The wicked arrogantly chase the oppressed; the oppressed are trapped by the schemes the wicked have dreamed up.

O (Observation): The psalmist has reason to be angry.  The “bad guys” are at it again.  The bad guys are taking advantage of the oppressed – the poor and defenseless.

A (Application): We all have worries and fears.   We question God, other people, our own selves when bad things happen to good people – like cancer, death, or maybe literally a hole in one’s heart.

The reality for a Christian is that pain still exists. All believers acknowledge that the oppressed – sometimes that’s us, sometimes not – are going to be taken advantage of or worse.

So, we take action when we can, and pray when we cannot.   Sometimes the place we are in requires us to have faith, or that we need to wait on God’s grace to give us a more clear path.   Either way, we can still have faith in the midst of our questioning.

What are you questioning these days?   Do you need faith that God will guide your steps?   Grace for the path to be unveiled?   Let me know how it goes for you.

P (Prayer):  Lord, we thank you for handling our questions.  We give you thanks for sustaining is when our faith is weak and guiding us into paths of grace.  Amen.

  1. “Wicked” — as in wickedly more clever than the “oppressed” falling into the trap? I believe if one were to strip away all labels of “good” and “evil” one would end up with either “focused” or “unfocused” and be able to form a clearer picture of one’s next goal or direction. What is a trap, other than an opportunity to better learn freedom?
