S (Scripture): Isaiah 48:20 Leave Babylon, flee from the Babylonians! Announce this with shouts of joy and proclaim it. Send it out to the ends of the earth; say, “The Lord has redeemed his servant Jacob.”
21 They did not thirst when he led them through the deserts; he made water flow for them from the rock; he split the rock and water gushed out.
O (Observation): God speaks words of hope in the midst of the despair of His people. God tells them that they will be free. They are to flee from the Babylonians and trust the Lord.
God reminds them that while in the wilderness, God brought forth water from the rock. God calls His people to risk everything, and reminds them that even though the road will be tough, God will be with them and will provide for their needs.
A (Application): Into what new thing is God calling you? Can you envision the obstacles ahead? Now, can you take that first step? Just one step.
Go ahead. Take it. We can’t tell what God will give us, because we don’t know what we’ll need for the journey.
A journey of a thousand miles, begins with one step. Go ahead. You’re not alone. God is with you.
P (Prayer): Lord, we venture into the unknown. Remind us that you are on the journey with us, just like you were with our ancestors in the wilderness and in a time of Babylonian captivity. Amen.
